Author Guidelines

  1. The editorial office of the journal “The Economics of Contemporary Russia” takes for publication the manuscripts, reflecting the results of original studies. The content of the journal should relate to the socio-economic problematics, comply with the scientific level of the journal, have a certain novelty and represent an interest for q wide range of the readers of the journal.
  2. The published materials, as well as the manuscripts, which are under consideration for publication in other journals, are not taken for consideration for this journal.
  3. The editorial office takes the duty to restrict the range of individuals, having the access to the manuscript sent to the journal with the staff members of the editorial office, members of the editorial collegium and editorial board, as well as the reviewers of this paper.
  4. The manuscript should contain the setting of the problem, the place of the received results among the scientific publications on this topic should be specified, the description of the scientific apparatus applied, the bibliographical references and the conclusions of the study.
  5. The manuscripts received by the editorial office are subject to a compulsory double-blind review. The review is sent to the authors for their awareness. The decision of whether to publish or reject the manuscript is taken by the editorial office after the reviewing. The manuscripts accepted for publication are subject to scientific and literary editing.
  6. The editorial office sends a letter with the review text to the authors of the manuscripts that need to be refined. The refined manuscript should be submitted to the editorial office not later than after 1 month since receiving the review. The letter containing the responses to all the remarks of the reviewer and indicating all the changes made in the manuscript, should be submitted together with the refined manuscript.
  7. The editorial office recommends the authors to structure the paper in line, using, for example, the following headings: Introduction, Setting the task of the study, the Methodology of the study, the Discussion of results, Conclusion, Literature etc.
  8. The manuscript is submitted to the editorial office in the electronic form on a diskette or by email in the format Word for Windows, as well as in the printed form with text typed in two intervals, with the font not less than 12 and with margins not less than 20 mm. the printed form of the manuscript should be signed by all the authors with indication of the date of its sending.
  9. The manuscript should contain the basic information in Russian that meets the following requirements.

9.1.  The title of the paper should be laconic and informative, shouldn’t contain any acronyms, excluding those which are mutually agreed.

9.2.  The information about the author includes surname, name, patronymic, scientific degree, title, position and jobs, city. It is compulsory to indicate the contact address of the email and the telephone.

9.3.  The abstract should state the essential facts of the paper, including objectives and tasks. The methodology of the study is worthwhile to be elaborated in such case, when it contains any novelty. The abstract should include the basic theoretical and experimental results, the interlinks and regularities, the conclusions having the novelty and the practical significance. The size of the abstract should not be less than 200-250 words.

9.4.  Keywords that should be no more than 10 words or expressions.

9.5.  Codes, according to the JEL classification

  1. The size of the basic text of the manuscript should not exceed one author list, that is 40000 symbols with spaces, including tables and the graphic material. The manuscript should not contain more than 5 pictures and/or tables.
  2. All pages of the manuscript, including those containing the references, should be enumerated. All the illustrations (graphs, diagrams, block-diagrams etc.) and tables should have a number in the order of their mentioning in the text and the title, as well as the references in the text.
  3. Tables should be a part of the text and should be admitted to be edited electronically.
  4. The illustrations (graphs, diagrams, charts etc.) should be made clear in the regime of gradation of grey. All the titles, which are too long for the illustrations should be placed beneath of the illustrations. In the electronic form each illustrative material should be presented as a separate file. The title of the file should include the surname of the author of the manuscript and the order number of the illustration.
  5. In order to make graphs and diagrams, one should use Excel (it is necessary that the file should contain the initial numerical data, connected with the graph). The illustrations made in the specialized programs should be exported in the vector format *.eps. The scanned illustrations should be saved with the resolution not less than 600 dpi in the format *.tiff.
  6. When printing the mathematical formulas one should use the program for editing formulas Microsoft Equation or MathType.
  7. The list of the sources used is provided in the end of the manuscript in the alphabetical order, in accordance with the standards of bibliographical description. Only those publications that are mentioned in the text of the manuscript are included in the list. National regulations, statistical handbooks, archive materials, newspaper articles without mentioning the author, references to the websites without mentioning a specific material are not included into the list of references. The references to such sources are given in the canvas commentaries (references). One shouldn’t indicate any doubtful websites, the websites of the boulevard press, forums and social networks.
  8. The references for the cited sources are given by indicating two first authors in parentheses or (when the authors are not indicated) by indicating the first words of title and the year when it was published for the first time, for example, (Ivanov, Petrov et al., 2016), or (Methodological recommendations, 2016). If there are several publications of one author for one year, then letters а, б, в are added to the year of publication, for example: (Sidorov, 2015а, Sidorov 2015б). The references to the unpublished papers are not permitted.
  9. In the end of the paper the basic information in English is provided, which should comply with the following requirements:

18.1 The translation of the title of the paper should be informative and understandable for the English speaking specialists, should not include any transliterations from Russian, except untranslatable titles of personal names, devices and other objects having their own unique titles.

18.2 The transliteration of surnames of the manuscript authors is provided within the framework of the international system of transliteration BGN.

18.3 The information about the authors includes the transliteration of surnames and names of the authors, total official title of the organization, including indication of the agency, to which the organization relates, in English, city, country, for example, the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia) and the address of email.

18.4  The abstract is a brief resumé of the paper, which is published separately from the main text and should be understandable for the English speaking specialists without referring to the very publication. The abstract should reflect the basic content of the paper and the results of study, comply with the structure of the paper manuscript and contain the objectives and tasks of study, brief description of the methods of study, the main received results and conclusions. The abstract should be typed in qualitative English with using mutually agreed international terms. The size of the abstract should be no less than 250-300 words.

18.5. The translation of the keywords should include the mutually agreed international terms.

18.6. References are provided in the Roman alphabet in a separate block and replicates the list of references for the Russian language part, if there are any references to the foreign sources, they are totally replicated in the list.

The bibliographic description of the Russian language sources is given as follows: authors (transliteration), indication of the date of publication in parentheses; translation of the paper title into English; title of the Russian language source (transliteration); [translation of the paper title into English in square brackets (one may not do it for the journals), the output data with descriptions in English, indication for the language in parentheses. For example: Ustuzhanina Ye.V., Dementyev V.Ye., Evsukov S.G. (2015). Pricing for the innovative product in a bilateral monopoly. Economics of Contemporary Russia, no. 2 (69), рр. 47–56 (in Russian).

  1. To transliterate of the Russian text into the Roman alphabet, one can use the automatic system of transliteration on the website http://www.translit.ru  in the international system of transliteration BGN.
The manuscripts that don’t meet the aforementioned requirements are not considered by the editorial office.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one line spacing, font Times New Roman, 12 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).
  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.
